To Galentine or Not to Galentine?
What is Galentine's Day?
Galentine's Day is day to celebrate and recognise your best 'gal pals'. It is 'celebrated' the day before Valentine's Day so all can be involved and celebrations need not interfere with each other. It is the perfect excuse to spend time with your best friend/s!
I recently shared a post on Instagram by Hambpster and so many people reacted to it.
Why celebrate Galentine's Day?
Friendships are SO important. I, for one, could not have coped with the last few years without the support and relief that my friends gave to me. They have certainly propped me up and I hope that I too have been there for them. It's normal to have plenty of 'fair weather' friends but there are a few golden ones who are utter diamonds and it's only right that these diamonds should be recognised (sadly not always with actual diamonds...wouldn't that be nice)!
Friendships for Mental and Physical Health
Good friendships help in all areas of life - emotionally, friends give you a sense of belonging, stopping you from feeling isolated. They help you deal with the troubles and stresses that life throws at you, practically and more often than not, emotionally.
In fact, having good friendships is one of the most significant factors for life quality and enjoyment and is strongly linked to having good, resilient mental health.
So, do you actually need a 'Galentine's Day’ to celebrate your gal pals?
Probably not in all honesty but it’s such a gorgeous way to show them that you think they’re awesome! If you’re anything like me, life gets in the way of my friendships so often and I can end up going for weeks without seeing my best friends or even chatting on the phone! Work, partners, children and just being plain shattered at the end of the day can take its toll on the amount of time one gets to spend with their friends.
How to celebrate Galentine's Day
You don’t need to spend a lot of money. You don’t need an elaborate gift (although if you’re feeling flush….) but something through the post to make her smile and let her know that you’re there for her for the good times and the bad is a gorgeous thing to do.
Going out for a drink or for a meal, a meal at home or even a simple WhatsApp message to say hello and to check in is all that is really needed to send a little bit of love her way.
But if you did want to send her a little something through the post, check out the Tangled Roots selection of Galentine Gifts that are all perfect to send to your besties ‘just because’.
